"It's a bit confusing..."

I'm a bit fan of 'read new.' When you click it, it lists all the topics with messages you haven't 'marked.' Lists 'em all out nice and neat.

Without forum headings.

Meaning topics like 'I know this is a stupid question, but...' could be about anything at all. Normally, I wouldn't think I'd much care - I could figure out what series is being discussed by references in the message. But today I got slightly confused. It's not really _important_, but it is irritating.

This topic, BTW, was posted to the 'meta-forum' forum.

Nani? I see the forum headings - in the white background table cell, aligned to the right. You don't?

I noticed that too - sometimes I would see them, other times not. I stopped using 'read new' fairly early on, though, because I noticed that in the time it would take me to read through the entire listing, new posts were coming into the groups I'd read first, and since the page doesn't refresh if you backtrack to it, I was losing them in the "mark all". Now I go group by group, and refresh the group's topic listing before marking it as read and going back to the lobby for the next one.

There was a glitch where the bgcolor and font color were the same - but I fixed that last week. (It was blue on blue.)

That's how I do it too - just follow the yellow icons. When I've read a forum I mark and I'm done.

I also read bottom up - bottom most yellow iconed thread to the top. Since new posts bubble the thread to the top of the list, if something new is posted in one thread while I'm reading another it will leapfrog ahead so I read it again and see the new stuff.

Ah, ah! Sorry, I had my colors set funny... I see it now...

And since I only check this place once, maybe twice a day, for specific forums... 'read new' is great.
