Tenryuu, I'm betting? Tenryuu drivers are all incredibly lethal; it's just that many of them are lethal to their own team more than the enemy. Things should hopefully go better- that guy is rather on the severe end of the jerks I have seen, although the grand prize winner was the asshole in a Wyoming who spent half the match chasing and blasting a friendly New York for "driving too close to me" at the beginning of the match. Not causing collision damage, mind you, just sailing in his general direction. "This is probably a stupid question, but . . ." |

>Tenryuu, I'm betting? Tenryuu drivers are all incredibly lethal; it's >just that many of them are lethal to their own team more than >the enemy. Tier I+Cruiser+Torps=HAS to be a Tenryu. More or less. Because anything on the US side dun HAVE torps, and anything bigger would be too big for Tier I Co-Op. And you're absolutely right. ANYONE with torps are scary-dangerous, but the Tenryu-drivers are just...worse. Personal low among the morons? Being 'pit-maneuver'-run into, in my battleship, by two separate cruisers, who then proceed to try and 'muscle' me out of the way. When I had not changed course. I just cannot help but wondering...what is wrong with such people? ...! Gott's Leetle Feesh in Trousers!

At least it was only _nearly_ torpedoed. Having been on both ends of _actual_ torpedoing of a friendly ship (not in the same match)... In my own defense, while I was torped because the other cruiser fired right across my bow, the poor destroyer I sunk did do a sharp right turn across the path of the torpedoes and would have been entirely safe without that. As opposed to neatly sweeping my entire salvo out of the sea before it could hit the battleship I was aiming for. If it's any consolation the xp penalties for that sort of thing are much much heavier than the 1 or 2 xp for ramming. As for teamchat, that's a bit random at the best of times. It's not wise to assume any plan suggested there will be followed through with whereas I had a perfectly pleasant chat yesterday early-match about what CV stood for. (We were at that stage of the match where we hadn't sighted the enemy yet and probably wouldn't need to steer, so we were hands free, so to speak). D. |

LAST EDITED ON Aug-05-15 AT 02:15 AM (EDT) Don't feel bad, I've been torped by "FRIENDLY" ships several times, even had one attempt to torp me, only to miss and instead take out half the HP of a tier 6 Battleship that was on the other side of me.I have also been called an "Idiot noob" by someone in a tier 7 premium ship with less than 250 games played (i had 460ish at this point) because i had the shear audacity to leave our cap circle and escort one of our Battleships in my tier 8 New Orleans cruiser. That guy that called me the noob, 200 of his 250 games played, Tier 7 Atlanta (premium ship) and tier 8 Atago (also a premium ship) he had zero games in tier 5 or 6 ships. Edit, misspelled ship, Atlanta may be a prem, but it is far from crap. See Comment. |

>This is why we can't have nice things. >Which was pretty much my thought, too, though I dunno that it was for the same reason? Because if your 'reason that it is playable' is, essentially, 'I can team-kill them'? You really need to find some other game. Is it acceptable that they're shouting at you when they previously shot at you? No. Is it acceptable for YOU to then shoot back? Even less so. Note, my opinion, but I like to think that I'm not alone in that opinion. And, to aviod this becoming some sort of flame fest, not that I necessarily think it WOULD become such in a place where the people are fairly reasonable, that is all I'll say on the matter. ...! That bites. :/ All I can say is I stay far away from PvP games. Mainly because I lose and I get really angry. In any case, I wish you the best of luck. If you find yourself playing one of the online games I play (Final Fantasy XIV, Star Wars Old Republic, Star Trek Online, World of Warcraft) drop me a line and I'll help you out. I'd bet there's others on the forums who can help you with the World Of (Warships|Tanks) games, though. ------ Fearless creatures, we all learn to fight the Reaper Can't defeat Her, so instead I'll have to be Her

LAST EDITED ON Aug-09-15 AT 01:55 PM (EDT) >All I can say is I stay far away from PvP games. Mainly because I lose >and I get really angry. I'm not a big fan of PvP either, mainly because it's the on-ramp to rampant douchery (and when introduced into games that were just PvE before - looking at you, City of Heroes - it lowers property values throughout the neighborhood), but in the World of $WEAPON games you can at least turn off chat and pretend they're all weirdly programmed bots. :) (Actually, nobody has said a word in any of the Tier I games I've played so far. One wonders how many of them haven't figured it out yet and how many, like me, simply can't be bothered. There's also not much time to be typing into chat in that game, at least if you're not dead.) >In any case, I wish you the best of luck. If you find yourself playing >one of the online games I play (Final Fantasy XIV, Star Wars Old >Republic, Star Trek Online, World of Warcraft) drop me a line and I'll >help you out. I think all the MMOs I've essayed over the years have been science-fiction-themed... can't think of one that wasn't, off the top of my head. City of Heroes could be argued, I suppose, since it at least attempted to include both sci-fi and fantasy elements under the "superhero comics" rubric, but both of the Star Wars MMOs and STO certainly qualify. I do sometimes feel the FRP itch, but I never got into World of Warcraft, probably for much the same reason that I didn't play Warcraft - I'm not very fond of the art design. No really specific reason, it's just always struck me as a bit overdone. Like those '80s pop albums that they just couldn't stop producing, you know? I'm not saying nobody should like it, but I don't. --G. -><- Benjamin D. PvP is the fast lane for more (as if we needed it) proof of the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory. Thing about co-op play, and no doubt PvP too, is a team can be so much more successful if they communicate. Rarely does anyone have time to type, of course, but that's what a headset and TS/Mumble/etc. are for. Some of those bosses in WoW and FFXIV are so insanely complicated it's almost a necessity. >>In any case, I wish you the best of luck. Well, if you liked SWTOR, you'd like the gameplay in WoW. SWTOR virtually cloned it. Blizzard's art style is very distinctive, though, you're right--it's from the days when people did not always have computers fast enough to run what was on the market. Blizz was always known as the company that could deliver a fun game on any quality hardware, and their low-res, low-poly, but distinctively theirs art style was part of why. Nowadays it's quaint, of course, but it was never for everyone. No worries. (Honestly, my sub on WoW is expired right now anyway. The latest expansion simply did not grab me in the slightest. Their new expansion will have a class we've all wanted for a decade and more, though, so we'll see. FFXIV has just jumped in quality so much I'm having trouble moving away. Now if they'd only fix the accursed 35-50 level grind for classes past the first one.) ------ Fearless creatures, we all learn to fight the Reaper Can't defeat Her, so instead I'll have to be Her |

LAST EDITED ON Aug-09-15 AT 12:16 PM (EDT) >Sometimes I think watching Jingles' videos and taking his advice is a >hindrance in low-tier matches- trying to play carefully and >intelligently seems to put me at cross-purposes with the rest of the >team, at which point it doesn't matter if I'm playing "correctly" when >I'm all alone. Kind of a moot point for me so far. I generally haven't gotten far enough to attempt anything as advanced as shooting another tank, let alone using terrain or concealment. I'm too old and slow. By the time I've aimed at them, they've killed me. :) I think Warships might be the game for old slow people. Twitch combat gaming takes on a different pace when the fastest vehicle in the game can do all of 40 knots. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
