LAST EDITED ON Oct-18-01 AT 03:14 AM (EDT)So, I guess I might as well introduce myself.
Name's Eric Heckathorn. I've been hanging around the forums pretty much since the beginning. I became an Eyrie fan around 1995 (about the same time I was introduced to the WWW, thanks to my one-time employer, the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center). I was looking for information about Robotech pretty much on a casual whim, found Chris Meadows' Misfold stories, bounced from there to UF... and as they say, the rest is history.
Curiously enough, I'm not really into anime. I do like to read a lot, everything from SF to science to military history (specifically ACW and WWII). My main hobby for several years now has been amateur astronomy. I've been a member of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh since September 1998 (has it been that long already?) and am fairly active in the organization.
Speaking of which, if anyone really cares what I look like, here's the best picture of me on the Net (not that that's saying much):
This was taken at Astronomy Day 2001 (late March, I believe) at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh. This wasn't actually my display, I was sitting in for someone else. The high point of the day: getting to handle actual pieces of rock from the Moon - encased in glass - on loan to the CSC from the government, while I was riding herd on another display. That was actually the result of a mix-up; CSC really wanted one of their own people on it. Hard to blame them.
Anyway, I'll be quiet now.
