"Ask G anything: Infinite Recursion loop"
|
I've been on a Space Battleship Yamato kick the last few days... which leads me to this question: Given the completely different setting of UF, including things like the Salusians being the types who make their starships star SHIPS, clearly the events of Yamato (Star Blazers in the US) couldn't happen exactly as written. But did something similar happen between Gamalon and another race? Or did the Gamalons, while still being a fairly martial culture, adapt to the galactic community as it stood without doing anything like comet bombardments? Or, was this covered somewhere and my lousy memory has forgotten? Of COURSE you wernt expecting it! No One expects the FANNISH INQUISITION! RCW# 86 |

Well, we know the Gamilons have comet drivers, and that they're entirely prepared to use them, from their appearance in Hunted Rose. I never really developed it, but the intent there was at least to pretty strongly imply (in G's dialogue to Zoner, for instance) that they had done so, albeit obviously not vs. Earth, at some earlier but well-remembered point in history. Possibly more than once. --G. -><- Benjamin D. >Do you have a master file (paper or digital) somewhere that helps you >keep track of all the different races, histories, empires, heroes, and >villains in UF or do you just keep it all in your head and rely on the >usual suspects to help you catch plot holes and discrepancies? (not >asking for access to it, just if it exists) The latter, which is becoming one of those "asymptotically approaches impossible" jobs as time passes and the universe grows ever more complex. The former makes a lot more sense, but by the time anyone realized we probably ought to have one, compiling, vetting, and updating it would've been more work than, well, working. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
