"Wargaming's Voiceover All-Stars"
|
I love the English-language tank crewman voice in World of Tanks, the one that reports what's going on during the game. He sounds so awkward. It's like they didn't even hire an actual voice actor, they just went out into the street in front of Wargaming HQ in Minsk and grabbed the first American who walked past. "But I'm not an actor -" "Is OK! You sit here! Read this!" "Um... 'We didn't even scratch them!'" "Добра! Stronk voiceover!" Still, at least he does actually report things that are happening, unlike the mysterious MC voice in World of Warships. You know. The one who suddenly and cheerfully declares, "{Our|The enemy} team has taken the lead!" when no change of lead or any remotely suchlike thing has transpired. I can only assume that he's watching some other game and the producer switched his mic to the wrong channel. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. Yes, yes, you don't like him, you're not obliged to, everyone else has moved on. --- "She's old, she's lame, she's barren too, // "She's not worth feed or hay, // "But I'll give her this," - he blew smoke at me - // "She was something in her day." -- Garnet Rogers, Small Victory FiMFiction.net: we might accept blatant porn involving the cast of My Little Pony but as God is my witness we have standards. Also being rude to the kind of alleged-people who make YouTube comments is, well, that fits my definition of an acceptable target. |

LAST EDITED ON Aug-15-15 AT 05:28 PM (EDT) Actually, that's not the case. I do like him. Or, at least, I do like most of his videos. I don't quite understand why he feels the need to call people idiots in videos about games. It's a game. It's supposed to be about having fun. But, that's secondary. He has quite a few videos, in fact I would say at least HALF of his videos are fun to watch, or informative, or any combination of things that makes at least most of the video enjoyable. And, the videos where he stars himself, rather than do voice-overs, he is very nice, it seems.Which all makes me wonder why he responds with asshole comments to people being polite and trying to be helpful. Even if the comment(s) in question are a bit, well, obvious, they don't rate a snarky put-down. ...! Gott's Leetle Feesh in Trousers! |

Even if the comment(s) >in question are a bit, well, obvious, they don't rate a snarky >put-down.You know how if you get poked in the same spot often enough, it eventually gets so sensitive that you would happily bite to death the next person who touches it, even if that touch is much gentler than the pokes and might even be completely accidental? I suspect being taken to task, even politely, in the comments becomes a similar sort of thing to a multi-hundred-thousand-subscribers YouTuber. (Much the same sort of thing is presumably behind his shortening fuse in re Standard Online Multiplayer Incompetence.) I'm not as bad about it as I used to be (I hope), but I've bitten some people's damn hands off on these boards in the past when they really didn't deserve it, for similar but smaller-scale reasons. As such, I have a certain degree of sympathy for him - if anything, I'm surprised he's not worse. If I had the size of audience Jingles has to deal with, refracted through the fucked-up prism that is the YouTube/Google+ comment ecosystem, I'd probably just turn comments off and become a hermit, because the alternative would be the kind of thing that would end with a news report talking about my Google search history. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. I just can't help but thinking(and I suppose it's wishful) that it'd be better to just not say anything at all. And I suppose that would get the 'you never respond' reaction instead, but... Ah, well, perfect world and all that. >I'm not as bad about it as I used to be (I hope), but I've bitten some >people's damn hands off on these boards in the past when they >really didn't deserve it, for similar but smaller-scale reasons.
Huh. Ok, I'll take your word for it, can't say I've seen anything like that at all around here, and I have been around a while, after all. There are a few DESERVED incidents that come to mind, but nothing undeserved. And I REALLY can't say it's happened anytime within the last couple years at least. ...! Gott's Leetle Feesh in Trousers!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-16-15 AT 05:59 PM (EDT) >>because the alternative would be the >>kind of thing that would end with a news report talking about my >>Google search history. :) > >man, that makes me feel old... I was expecting a quip about an >armored bell tower. I did take a parody of one of those "what kind of lover are you?" quizzes from the trashy ladies' mags one time, the premise of which was "what kind of spree killer would you be?" It seemed to think that if I ever did go crazy and decide to kill a whole bunch of people, I would go the clocktower sniper route, but I think that's unrealistic. I mean, at the very best(?), I would completely miss the point of the clocktower part and pick one with an elevator. :) I'd like to think that even pushed to that sort of extreme of derangement, I wouldn't actually hurt anybody, anyway. I prefer to think of myself as the Marvin Heemeyer style of berserker. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
