"Online Games that aren't out yet"

So, which MMO-style games are you looking forward to? Me, I can't wait for The Division. I'll, of course, be hideously disappointed when it doesn't live up to, blablabla...but, for the moment? Hope burns with a golden light, and I'm twitching, waiting for it. Luckily there are a few games that I can play while waiting, but still. ...! Gott's Leetle Feesh in Trousers! |

>So, which MMO-style games are you looking forward to? Never actually answered this, because the only MMO I ever put any serious time into was City of Heroes, and have never really felt the "oh hey" from any newer ones I've seen coming down the pipe. However: >Me, I can't wait for The Division. I'll, of course, be hideously >disappointed when it doesn't live up to, blablabla...but, for the >moment? Hope burns with a golden light, and I'm twitching, waiting for >it. Having seen a quantity of gameplay on various videos (Jingles and Yogscast), I have to say I find the premise of The Division... disquieting. The player characters are über-elite above-the-law operatives licensed to kill by some accountability-free government superagency... and a great many of the people they're killing are The Urban Poor, driven to desperation by the total failure of the normal governmental apparatus of the city where they live in the aftermath of a huge disaster. Are we the good guys, Clark? I may be overthinking it, but with Tom Clancy's name on the license, I tend to suspect I'm not. In which case I, uh, I don't think I want to participate in a neocon circle jerk of that magnitude. :) --G. -><- Benjamin D. In which case I, uh, I don't think I want to >participate in a neocon circle jerk of that magnitude. :) It's... Well, the game's unfortunate implications get pretty disturbing at times. It's a side effect of the Tom Clancy approach, where the government agents are always in the right, and everything they do, no matter how horrible, is totally justified... but I've always felt the game would feel much better if, instead of secret government sleeper agent with ultimate authority, you were just someone that picked up a gun and started helping try to rebuild. Also, the game needed an 'arrest' system or something for the looters, because killing people looting supplies to survive, only to loot their stuff to get a scope upgrade for your gun feels kinda wrong. Anyway. I played it, beat the campaign mode, never even touched the PvPvE system that is the Dark Zone because holy fuck, griefers everywhere. I enjoyed the single player mode (And even if it's an online game, it's a single player game, given no other players ever appear in your game unless they're on your team), but it certainly didn't have enough to keep my attention after that. And then Massively managed to break everything. And fixing something broke something else. And then other stuff just broke. And the game is designed in such a way it's virtually impossible to stop the popular griefing methods in the PvPvE, so instead they'll punish the people that got hit by the random glitches their latest attempt to fix something caused and OH MY GOD IT'S ALL ON FIRE. The Division is turning into a horrifying example of how not to make an online shooter. Matrix Dragon, J. Random Nutter |

Yeah, I remember reading that when details of the original closed beta leaked. I have to wonder, does that qualify as incompetence, or simply a complete failure to give a damn? Matrix Dragon, J. Pretty much sums up how I feel about it too. (Loving all the butthurt commentors. Why would you even leave comments enabled when you're posting a YouTube video? Why?) --G. -><- Benjamin D.
