"Post time discrepancies?"
|
I'm using the "mark read" option to see what posts are new. On the main page, it claims Undocumented Features General has a new post, with the last post time of Jan-01-07 06:54 PM. But when I click into that forum, the most recent post I see is the Nings post, with a last updated time of Dec-19-06 04:00 PM. Likewise, on the main page, I see Bubblegum Crisis: The Iron Age having a new post at Jan-01-07 01:20 PM, but in its forum, the most recent post I see is "Hello Kitty?" at Nov-21-06 07:47 PM. I've hit reload at the main page a couple of times, but it still shows this. |

>On the main page, it claims Undocumented Features General has a new >post, with the last post time of Jan-01-07 06:54 PM. But when I click >into that forum, the most recent post I see is the Nings post, with a >last updated time of Dec-19-06 04:00 PM. That happens when a post is moved from one forum to another - in this case, the "Happy New Year" thread, which I moved from UF to Forum General. DCF updates where things are, but, for whatever reason, not the overview time stamps. >Likewise, on the main page, I see Bubblegum Crisis: The Iron Age >having a new post at Jan-01-07 01:20 PM, but in its forum, the most >recent post I see is "Hello Kitty?" at Nov-21-06 07:47 PM. Similarly, that happens when the most recent thread is deleted. --G. -><- Benjamin D. >There's a somewhat different problem going on here. I saw a post in >the SotS forum with a timestamp of seven minutes ago (as of the time >of this post) that was marked in the topic list as having been updated >by me. However, I didn't make that post; the notation actually >refers to an edit by forum moderator Wedge. It confused me because my >last post to that forum had been at least half an hour before that >misidentified edit. Is there any way to fix this? No. For reasons I, not being a programmer, do not understand, DCF can update the time and date stamps when something is edited, but not the name field, which remains the name of the last person that actually posted. --G. -><- Benjamin D.
