"World of Tanks premium watch"

LAST EDITED ON Oct-20-15 AT 02:37 PM (EDT)

[Changing the title of this thread because I'm putting premium tank notices that aren't to do with the Ancient Weapons event in it now.]

So Wargaming is having this event in World of Tanks this month where every week they're offering a premium tank that isn't usually for sale. Last week's was a never-before-seen Chinese tank, the 59-Patton, which is a hybrid of two other tanks (the Type 59, itself a discontinued Chinese premium, and the American M46 Patton). This week's is the Soviet KV-5, which has been offered before. They won't reveal what next week's is until the KV-5 goes off sale again, and so on through week 4.

I mention this not because I'm terribly interested in the event itself (it's tied in loosely with a bunch of gameplay changes and new modes that I'm not elite enough to get any particular use out of), or in the tanks that have since been offered (though I might pick up a KV-5), but rather because the KV-5's inclusion sets a precedent. It's a tank that used to be for sale in the premium shop and was then retired, and now it's back for a week. Sort of a "Disney Vault" thing.

The Disney Vault strategy kind of pisses me off, to be honest (particularly in its eponymous form), but that gives me a flicker of hope that maybe next week's Ancient Weapon or the one after it will be the TOG. 'Cause dang, even though its own biggest fans are on record that it's not a very good tank, I want me one'a them. :)
