Well, all I can say is that it is all Jeff Keffer's Fault. He handed me a fanfiction printout over five years ago, and I was hooked. I was already an anime fan at that time, hooked in early 94. Then with that printout, I resolved to get a computer and start to find what else was out there on the net. I know Ranma is not that popular among some, if not all, of the Eyrie folk, but that is what really got me hooked, in anime as well as fanfiction. While surfing the net, I discovered a fanfic called Misfold. I started bugging the author for more, but forund out it had been dropped, more or less. There were references to a story called Undocumented Features. Chris referred me to Megazone, and off I was.
Ah yes, I know, this is supposed to be about me, so here is my brief bio. I was born Dec 6, 1974 in Miami, North Cuba... er Florida. I was rasised in Georgia, in a little town called Dahlonega. I went through my whole school career there, then ended up joining the Navy in 1993, after graduation.
After Boot Camp, I went through the Nuclear Propulsion Program, about a year and a half of intense schooling and training. Only sixty percent of the trainees make it through. Some for discipline, some for grades, others for drugs and alcohol. A few even psych out... like I almost did, but that is a story for another time. I survived, and went off to spend five years aboard the USS John C. Stennis CVN-74, working in the Reactor Spaces. (If you want a good idea of how things like that are, read Jamie Wild's 'Snipes in Wonderland' fanfic. Just remember that there were no giant aliens attacking my ship.) After that, I ended up working a repair facility in San Diego on the NAval Station there. I am currently applying for an officer program, trying to get out of the 'Pit', and rate a stateroom instead of a rack in a 200 man berthing compartment.
I also have been engaged for the last week (meaning we only just got the rings) and am looking to be married on Oct 12.
The stories I devour on this site are pretty much anything UF, and NXE. The Symphony of the Sword and Twilight are currently rating as my favorite story arcs. I have been told by a few people that these stories are too munchkin, too self-agrandizing (or some term), but I say so what?
A wise man once said, "If you are going to have delusions, why not have the really satisfying ones?"
With that said, I am off to try building my gaming worlds in the delusional hopes I will actually get to play them someday.
ciao all
