"What's New?"

I'm not sure whether this belongs here or in the "Website" section, but I noticed that GotW isn't mentioned on the "What's New" page and was wondering if that was deliberate.

Yeah, it's not really finished yet; once it is, maybe I'll note it there. I'm not planning to update WN every time a new GotW entry drops, since it's going to get flagged here (each entry will have its own discussion thread).

How practical would a _separate_ RSS feed for the GotW entries be? I can see people who are primarily interested in GotW, rather than the fanfic, wanting something slightly more convenient than remembering to check the forum every Thursday.

Probably really practical, if I, um... knew how to set one up. I'll look into it...

Mm, that brings up a point I've been mulling over since I went and did this, in fact. I've been a little concerned about... crossing the streams, I guess you'd say? I decided to keep GotW under the EPU name (rather than making it an imprint of, say, Verbum Industries, the freelance writing firm I played with starting when I lost my job at the paper and for which I still have the domain name) bcause it started here, and because keeping it tied to the Forum provided a convenient way to have a discussion capability for the entries without actually using a live blogging platform to do it. The possibility that there might conceivably end up being separate, potentially incompatible user bases is a bit of a worry, though.

That, and I'm acutely aware that this old forum software isn't very secure, and at this point it's likely that the only thing that keeps us from being swamped with boner pill spam and who the hell knows what else is that so few people know about it. If I started actively promoting GotW elsewhere, that could go wrong pretty quick.

That, and the knowledge that GotW can't go on indefinitely—certainly can't remain weekly indefinitely—which was fine when it was a bonus feature on the EPU boards, but if it becomes its Own Thing that could be awkward. I mean, it's not like Forgotten Weapons, where most of the guns Ian is talking about are not his own, and obviously I can't go buying a gun a week for the rest of time. :)

Basically, I didn't really think it through as well as I thought I had and now I'm sweating it a bit, is what I'm saying.
