"3WA Parking Sticker"

LAST EDITED ON Aug-20-18 AT 11:31 PM (EDT)

I think I picked this up at the ADV booth at Project A-Kon 7 or 8. (c.1995-1996)

I've put it in every car I've had. I just think it's cool.

Huh. 7 was the first one I was at, and I missed that.

(I was working it, so. That was wacky. I had to go into a room, look around, come out again, and send in Security since they were selling beaucoup bootlegs, which had been banned that year. My girlfriend at the time was not happy with me, mostly because she was afraid I'd get in trouble.

I had the shirt until a couple years ago when the arm seams finally gave up the ghost.)

Really? I was working it too!
It was the only way I could make it to the con since I was a college student in Michigan, had to pay for flying, and couldn't afford any other way of attending.

I was in the hospitality suite, making sure the VIP's (or closest equivalent) were getting the empty calories they needed to say hi to the unwashed masses.

I had so much fun with it, I worked the next 2 Kons there as well.

Which department were you?

Security, under Woodchuck. I knew a bunch of them from online at AnimeMUCK, and I was going with my then-girlfriend and they offered to help out by letting us work security and save some money. Then I got hooked in to run the sting.

I think that was also included with one of their Dirty Pair subs, I forget which one. They did a NERV one for one of their early Eva tapes, too, I used to have that one.

I think it was for DP Flash!

That NERV sticker reminds me of one of the members of my old anime club had a vanity plate that had 'NERV' on it.

Yes, for (one of) the VHS releases. The DVD releases did not include the stickers.

Both the 3WA and NERV stickers were designed by Doug "the voice of Kintaro in Golden Boy" Smith. Who was a graphic artist that just happened to have the kind of voice they wanted for Kintaro. And yeah, the 3WA one was with DP Flash (don't ask me which one). The NERV one I'm not as sure; I do know that they were pretty much gone by November of 97 because they gave away the last two they had in hand at AWA 3.

Oh, Gods and Goddesses, WHY did you have to remind me of Golden Boy.

The one anime that was just SO painfully awful that a friend and I literally ran screaming (or at least, covering our ears and going "wawawawawawwa" so we couldn't hear any of it) from the auditorium....
