LAST EDITED ON May-25-12 AT 07:32 PM (EDT) I distinctly remember the first time I ever saw this movie (although it wasn't on this date). It was at the old Showcase Cinemas on Bardstown Road in Louisville. Huge, several hundred seat theater, big wide screen, amazing (for then) sound system. Totally blew me away.(about 3 years later they held the world premiere of "Coal Miner's Daughter" in the same theater) Jeanne

I'm still not sure if I saw it for the first time in 1977 or 1979 - I'm guessing the latter since I would have been 6 then, but it's possible I saw it both times, since I distinctly remember seeing it in theatres twice... The first time I ever saw it was probably on a TV set when I was two or three years old (which would put us sometime between '82 and '84 when HBO and MTV were all the rage). Even so... yes. It does stir something deep inside to see that image. :) Black Aeronaut Technologies Creative aerospace solutions for the discerning spacer "Murphy never sleeps, but that's no reason to poke him with a sharp stick." |

Missed this on the post date... On this day in 1977, I was living in Japan, and was just over 2 years old. However, we returned to the US in time for me to see the '78 re-release. Yes, I was a little over 3. Yes, I still remember seeing it. We went to a drive-in with some of my parents oldest friends in their big brown (I think) bronco. Its the first movie I have any memory of seeing, and has had a huge effect on me through the years. -D- "I don't tell you how to remove bullets. I not only saw it within a week of its premiere, I remember spotting the novelization, sporting the Ralph McQuarrie pre-production art on the cover, on the paperback rack at the local supermarket several months before. I can't remember if I read any of it while I was standing there, but I do recall seeing the first commercials for the movie and saying, "hey, that's that book..." I was 15 at the time. -- Bob ------------------- My race is pacifist and does not believe in war. We kill only out of personal spite. |
