"SoS Annotated..."

While we're talking website, got a question for you G...

There are all those files in the UF/FI/SOS/Annotated directory, but its just that, a directory of files not really a web page collection.

Am I right in assuming that you'll do something about this someday, but its just that its priorty is much much lower than... say writing new goodness for us RCW's?

Of COURSE you wernt expecting it!

We played with a system for including the annotations in the stories they annotate (appearing as Javascript mouse-over bits at the ends of the appropriate lines, if I remember right), and we got it more-or-less working, but applying it to each new file was kind of a pain and Truss (who was doing the coding) had more important things to use his programming skills for (like his actual job), so it fell by the wayside.

That system or something like it may reappear someday, but I make no guarantees.

Kinda what I thought, cause thats the set i've been using for this particular re read of the Symphony. Thought I saw the annotated csi episodes too, but they're not there now, so its probobly just my imagination.

Sorry to double reply, but after looking at the page sources, I think I see why you said it was still kinda kludgy and took to much time for Truss to keep on top of it.

I just cant help but think that there HAS to be a way to better automate the process for you all; sadly my Java script fu is so weak it might as well not exist.

I've got a Ruby script that associates each line of the annotation with the line of the story it goes with, and outputs an HTML page with the notes over to the side a la AnnoCPAN; the 'associate annotation' part worked fine, IIRC, but my design skills suck, and I never managed to get the page looking right. On the other hand, it's been almost a year since I tried it, and I've gotten a lot better since then... hmm. And doing the annotation as a tooltip would solve the problem....

Hmm, the annotations are indexed by line aren't they...

Hmm... goes off contemplatively
