"J. Random Introduction"

Hi hi, hello hello, I'm Meagen, not very rabid but very loyal fangirl of Eyrie works. I posted here once a few months ago, and probably got mistaken for a troll or flamer or very weird person.

You see, I made the mistake of describing some loose associations and parallels which had come to my mind when reading SotS. (See sig for sample.)

Anyway in the meantime I had stuff to do, so I stopped coming here altogether and just read the fanfics as they came out. But now that I got into college (Yay college!), I have a whole summer for fun and games and getting Eyrie forumgoes to suspect me of trolldom again.

I have a very active weird side, please don't hold it against me.

Meagen

I don't see how this is unusual at all, given the wide scope of SOS, and the myriad of sources from which the arc derives its characters, settings, etc.

First of all, as we all know, yay college should not be anteceded by an exclamation point. It's simply wrong. Second of all, I have yet to see any real trolls on here. Our discussions may get animated, even heated, but with Gryphon and co. patrolling the forum at least semi-regularly, we don't have too many problems.

Why shouldn't "yay college" be followed by an exclamation point? I -liked- college. Even while I was in college. Just because you (or anyone else, for that matter) had a bad experience with college, doesn't mean no one else should get excited about it. And trust me, college is, at a minimum, a heck of a lot better than high school for a lot of people.

And to keep this vaguely relevant, congratulations on getting into college, Meagan, and welcome to the forums. :)

What's wrong with college? I liked college, and I still miss that life. My college years were probably, overall, the most fun period in my life.

I was just joking. I didn't expect it to be taken so seriously. It seems that when people on this forum aren't ignoring me outright(a good 50% of the time or so), they take me pretty seriously, which is unusual for me. Sorry. Should've had a sarcasm tag in there I suppose.

Oh, well DUH, now I get it. I unconciously used the "It's simply wrong" phrase (one of the many triggers from my orchestra days.) So while it was funny to me, it would attract a lot of blank looks and angry statements by people who didn't get the humor...especially if it didn't really SEEM humorous. BLAH. *hits his head on a foam mat, and goes hunting for the spiky stress ball of death*
Actually, I'm in a sincere Yay college! mode myself, gearing up to apply again. I don't know if I have what it takes, musically speaking, but I'll keep applying until I've run out of local colleges to apply to.

By the way Meagen, don't feel too bad if your introduction led into a semi-off topic conversation. Happens all the time. At least its RELATED, be grateful for that.

The Beautiful Voice Admin, feeling apologetic, tired, and kinda glad that he at least sparked part of an interesting conversation.

It wasn't for financial aid, I didn't have any, it was that I was going on academic suspension for a term because I snowflaked too many courses.

I did have a bad year, but even that year had highpoints.

And hey, it worked, they wavied my academic suspension and it worked out.

At least you never accidentally threatened to sodomize your CS professor (and advisor) with a firearm. I had an interesting time talking my way out of that one.

It was all just a terrible misunderstanding...

No, seriously, it was. There's a speech in The Big Lebowski, that's delivered by the character Jesus (played wonderfully by John Turturro), that goes something along the lines of "You pull any of your crazy shit, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I take it away from you, shove it up your ass, and pull the trigger 'til it goes cleek".

So I had that as my .sig for my personal e-mail account, and I was working on a CS project in my room late one night, and when I finished it up, completely without thinking, I sent it as an attachment from my personal mail account (rather than the school one), without anything in the body of the message.

Naturally the next morning my professor checked her e-mail and found a mail from me with that little speech in the body (I hadn't credited it to the movie or anything), and that week's lab assignment as an attachment. Apparently she took that as a threat of violence directed toward her and called the dean and the head of the CS department, who hauled me out of bed to have a little chat with me.

As I said, I had a tough time talking my way out of that one.

Not my brightest move ever, no. My year of college was a long string of not so bright moves. On the other hand, it was my personal mail account, except for that one instance I don't remember ever using it for anything else, and anyone receiving mail from that account would have recognized the quote. With the exception of said professor, of course. <g>

I think I should give you a little sample. Just pretend it's 4 months ago, okay?

::A-hems, then speaks in an unnaturally loud and "theatrical" voice:: You know, I just read Christmas Rose and A Rose for the New Year, and the way Utena interacted with the Hutchins/Morgan family reminded me a lot of, get this, Harry Potter and the Weaslys! I mean, you have the whole "orphan with practically no home" and "large closely-knit family living in same house" deal, and Utena has a Trendy Scar too!

::Increases volume slightly:: And with that whole deal lately about Utena getting command of a spaceship, well, I'm okay with it, just as long as she doesn't develop a fondness for strawberries and write "I was defeated by a bunch of kids" on the hull of whoever's the poor dope that will undoubtly try to attack them!

::Gasps for air for a while, then speaks normally:: There. That's what I mean by weird associations. ::sees all forumgoers staring at her:: Aw me, not *again*...

I can see the first one, to some extent, though there aren't any females in the Hutchins clan pretentious enough to be Ms. Grainger. Not to mention I think part of what did it for you was the abundance of red hair. And as for strawberries...well..maybe. Chuchu gives the strawberry to Utena, remember?

No, not really. I think you're giving yourself a little too much credit. It takes more than that little bit to weird out the residents of this forum.

*begins singing*
Gertzen's head,
Gertzen's head,
Ice country, a grand operation,
Gertzen's head!
Lungs in the darkness of a vial,
The frozen eyeball - the tendons
Are revived, while resurrection medicine
Repeats progress
Unintentionally.
Bringing forth existence,
Regenerating parts,
To be revived --
My experiment was a success!

That would equate Utena with Sir Robin, and that just does -not- work. Though Miki would make a great Sir Gallahad <just think of him in the Castle Anthrax sequence>.

You're telling me... There isn't a single really cowardly character in SotS (well, main character, anyway), though, so I just went for Utena 'cause her "minstrels" would be The Art of Noise. Which does work.

>Though Miki would make a great Sir Gallahad <just think of him in the

Only pre-Azalynn Miki, though. And Corwin would be just as good. Of course, Corwin could also work as King Arthur.

Except that all of the AoN can defend themselves quite well. Swords, claws, superhuman strength, and a telepath as the former drummer. It'd be fun to see someone try though :)

So, on to Asgard!

On second thoght, let's not. It's a rather silly place, actually.

Which is exactly why I'm not using that part of the scrip in any way, shape, or form. ::Speaks somewhere to her left:: Are you happy now? Can you put the pointy objects away please? And the heavy sticks too. ::Pan left to the entire Duelists' Society with wepons drawn. They put them away.:: Thank you.

Lets see, we can sub in our not-so-friendly neighborhood Sith, Tremane as the Black Knight. Then again, if Corwin's Arthur, we can use Ohtori.

Who fills in for the Enchanter .... Tim though?

I don't know...seems to me it'd work better if she writes "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for those rotten kids and their tiger."
