Since I first posted on the EPU forums a year ago August, I suppose it's about time I did an introduction.I'm Jonathan Lennox, a gradual student (eight years and counting!) vaguely trying to get a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Columbia University.
I first discovered Eyrie...hm, probably sometime around the 1995 time-frame. I think the linkage went something like this: I was reading the rec.arts.comics.* groups on Usenet, where I discovered rec.arts.comics.creative. From there, due to a "cultural exchange" program, I discovered Superguy, a humorous superhero fiction mailing list, and its associated chat boards. Among the Superguy authors, and chat participants, was Chris Meadows, who pushed me at another fictional universe he'd been writing for, Undocumented Features.
I'd say the rest is history from that point, but it really isn't. I read all the then-extant UF stories at that point, and also Hopelessly Lost and the then-one-episode of Gods Willing, but then moved on to other things to keep me entertained. (I read very fast; it's both a blessing and a curse...) I occasionally saw other Eyrie Productions stuff go by on rec.arts.anime.creative, but I never really got into NXE, and somehow I missed Twilight and Wilderness (shows what comes of not checking the newsgroup very often).
It was last August when I decided to investigate whether there was anything exciting going on with the Eyrie crowd, and discovered there was this new series "Symphony of the Sword." "Hm," thought I, "looks interesting." And thus crack weasels are born.
I've since been following the What's New page with approprpriate rabidity, and also have infected my girlfriend with the disease. You see, I've printed out nearly the entirety of the UF canon in the past month or so, to re-read them. And thus they were lying around the bedroom, and she asked, "so what's this thing you keep reading so obsessively, anyway?"
So, only eleven month late, that's me...I'm happy to be here!
