"RSS oddity"

i just noticed that, on the RSS feed, at least in google reader, the html code comes through as straight text... that is, the latest item appears as:

It's the conclusion (but not quite the end) of <a href="http://www.eyrie-productions.com/UF/EX/SC/";><i>Star-Crossed</i></a>! Tali's got the fleet moving. Will they arrive in time - and who'll be waiting for them when they arrive? The chronicle of Goodyear reaches its end in Part IX, <a href="http://www.eyrie-productions.com/UF/EX/SC/sc09.txt";><i>Defeat Never Permanent</i></a>. As always, <a href="http://www.eyrie-productions.com/UF/EX/SC/AUDIO/sc09.mp3";>MP3 is here</a> too. <i>2010-03-12</i>

but without any actual links... just thought you should know

-Z enjoying the new stories immensely since monday!

Yeah, that's a quirk of the script that generates the RSS page - not sure why it does that. Something about the way it works - it's set up to take the regular What's New page, use the embedded xmlfeed links to generate the RSS list, and use the list-item text from that page as "flavor text" for the entries on said list, but it does it literally for some reason. Fixing it was considered fairly low priority in comparison with getting the RSS edition working in the first place, particularly since the link cited at the top of each entry does still work, but I'll ask Dave to take another look at it if he gets a minute.

   Erm.

The timestamps seem to coincide here- from you saying it's fixed, the RSS feed has told my LJ that Manhunt 1-6, The Burden of Command, Mini-Stories Omnibus 4, and Hellbringer 1 are all fresh from the oven, so to speak.

(shrug)

Might be because I had to rerun the generator script to fix the markup once the script itself was repaired. Dunno. RSS is black juju. Next time I add something that's actually new to the list and rerun the script, let's see what (if anything) it does with the old ones.

(Also, yes, I know it claims everything on the list was released at either 7 or 8 PM on whatever day. I don't know why it does that either.)

Sounds like midnight UTC, which is either 7 pm EST or 8 pm EDT?

If you read the notification a little more carefully, you'll see that that's because it's in color now.

Here's the text of the RSS LJ post:

http: //www.eyrie- productions.com/ UF/FI/SOS/GFX/pmoy-utena-files-bw

There's a new piece of commissioned art for the Symphony of the Sword. Please enjoy Phil Moy's "The Burdens of Command", hunted for us (as usual) by the intrepid Doc Mui. 2009-06-09

And yes, it is the black-and-white version. It's broken up so I don't fill the screen with BW Utena goodness.

Okay, that is weird, because the entry I added says:

"Our most recent piece of commissioned art for the Symphony of the Sword is now in color, and what color, courtesy our own Phil Moyer! Also, for Star-Crossed fans, there's a new Mini-Story serial starting on the Forum; this way to part I of Correspondence! 2010-03-21"

And I saw it on the New Releases page; I love the coloured version.

*tongue in cheek* Is this a way to keep people seeing the fancy costumes on Relael?

And further to that- I have just checked the Syndication page for Eyrie-what's-new.

http://syndicated.livejournal.com/eyrie_whats_new/

I suspect that the problem is in LJ's RSS feeder. It's telling me that the colour version was released on the 19th.

LJ's RSS feeder is, unfortunately, more shonky than a very shonky thing.

My surprise is so small it is hard to measure.
