Gryphon has a knack of writing things in a way that has you go "well, of course Gil Grissom and Barry Allen are co-workers," or "Hercule Poirot is a Jedi and has Hermione Granger as a Padawan? yep, that works."

Mind you, I tend to open with "it's the kind of setting where, for a writing and practice retreat, Houkago Tea Time travels by sky bison to the vacation home of a Norse god and are greeted by the battleship Yamato in a maid's dress." (Not my best record scratch intro to a fic, but it's hard to top simply saying "Fallout Equestria" and bluescreening someone's brain.)
