So some of the stuff from this list would figure?

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea

Uh, Gryph, that's a reference to internet comics reviewer Linkara. It's a running gag whenever something's deliberately misspelled in a comic book.

Also he is in the process of reviewing Power Rangers.

All of it.

>"Who Do You Love", that kind of thing. The album's title would be
>[sic].

Heh. That's the kind of thing I'd buy just for the fun of it and cleverness of the idea.

And now you've got me thinking. How about...

"Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box", Radiohead
"Nothing Compares 2 U", Sinead O'Connor (and anything else written by Prince at the height of his campaign to conserve prepositions and pronouns, like "U Got The Look" and "I Would Die 4 U")
"Rock and Roll All Nite", Kiss
"White Limozeen", Dolly Parton
"Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", Sly & The Family Stone
"Point of Know Return", Kansas
"Pop Muzik", M
"Must of Got Lost", J. Geils Band
"Used Ta Be My Girl", O'Jays
"Mama Weer All Crazee Now", Slade

... and, well, I could keep going for quite a while. It's a good thing I'm not at home and can't peruse my MP3 collection, or this list might be dozens of songs long -- we're talking an entire subgenre for Kate here, really, not just one album. <grin>

I'd include "The Sheik Yerbouti Tango" by Frank Zappa except it doesn't fit the requirement of a "popular" song (given that it's an album track that never got released to the best of my knowledge). Likewise "U Stink But I ♥ U" by Billy and the Boingers because of outright obscurity (and the reasonable assumption most people might make that it's entirely fictional).

But think I've probably already run the gag deep enough into the ground that wind drift has already covered it over.

Must be a Slade thing. "Cum On Feel the Noize" was a Slade song, too.

iTunes has just reminded me of Fall Out Boy's "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs", as well, though that isn't a mistake, they did it on purpose to annoy their record company. Then again, I rather doubt that the members of Slade seriously thought that's how "Mama We're All Crazy Now" was supposed to be spelled either. :)

But it's not - I still have the vinyl (square) record somewhere that came with "Billy and the Boingers: Bootleg" (the opposite side is "I'm a Boinger"). I don't know what's sadder - that I think it's not a horrible song, or that I occasionally get the chorus stuck in my head and I probably haven't heard it in 20 years...

Beat me to it. And I was only going to mention my MP3 copies of both...
