Vanguard is kind of balls to the wall offense with not very much hiding and a lot of getting into peoples' faces (and punching or shooting them off). Assault Sentinel is you being a walking explosion going down the field. Engineer has built in distractions that make offensive plays really fun.
Try stuff out, there's fun to be had in there.
... and yes, the Mako was genuinely better, for the sense of exploration and combat both. At least Andromeda brought that back, even if the Nomad is short a cannon.
