Failure Frame is a bit too mean spirited for my tastes - it's very much a revenge fantasy sort of story, at least the Manga. Not seen the anime yet because of it.

Ossan Shinmai on the other hand is one of the "extensive misunderstanding" subtrope, where then protagonist has a severe lack of understanding of just how powerful they are because of either a complete lack of self esteem because their party treated them like garbage and never understood how powerful they were, or they were overclassed by even MORE powerful people to the point they are to their teachers what they themselves are to regular people.

Rick is of the latter group, as mentioned, and really *should* know the difference, having worked with adventurers as a guild clerk, but it's quite entertaining that he doesn't~
