9. "A few notes"

M4A3E8 Sherman - Known to crews as the "Easy Eight" (because "Easy" was the phonetic code for "E" at the time, not because it was particularly simple to use), this Sherman variant had improved suspension and a 76mm "High Velocity" cannon in place of the customary 75. As seen (the title tank) in the motion picture Fury. Tier VI medium US tank in World of Tanks.

Jagdpanther - A German tank destroyer based on the chassis of the Panzer V Panther tank. Equipped with an 88mm anti-tank gun. Tier VII in World of Tanks.

T1E3 experimental light tank - The T1 series of light tanks, developed in the late 1920s and early 1930s, existed only as a series of prototypes (except for the T1E1, of which four were made). American tank development ultimately went in other directions. The T1E1 appears (as the "T1 Cunningham", after the manufacturers, James Cunningham, Son & Co.) as a Tier I light tank in World of Tanks, where it's the starting tank for the US tech tree. As such, it would be extremely unlikely to face Jadgpanthers or Easy Eight Shermans in gameplay, unless someone had done some really inadvisable platooning.

In comparison to the T1E1, the T1E3 had more sophisticated suspension and a long-barrelled, semiautomatic gun (the latter of which is available as an upgrade to the WoT T1 Cunningham).

Himmelsdorf - Urban battle map in World of Tanks, simulating the center of a typical German town (complete with castle on hill, town square, and rail yard). A mazelike map with few open spaces, favoring light and medium tanks over heavies and arty.

In this context, a facility similar to one of the arenas on Solaris VII, purpose-built to host Armorsport matches. Also available as one of the "Greatest Hits" configurations in the Avalon County Battledrome.

Percival Baxter Hall - Named in honor of Percival P. Baxter (1876-1969), 53rd governor of the State of Maine, humanitarian, conservationist, and founder of Baxter State Park (which he did not name).

memorial bracelet - I originally had Nora wearing the traditional black armband in Nicki's honor, but since the DSM uniform blazer is black, I decided it wouldn't have been much of a gesture.

body's not really workin' today - I based the symptoms Nora is experiencing here on the common side effects of the medication I take for MS, which causes what the medical community shorthand as "flu-like symptoms" (because "feeling like reheated shit" doesn't go down well in The Lancet or JAMA, presumably).

Hetzer gonna hetz - You will find many artworks and items on the Internet featuring this slogan (a riff on "hater(s) gonna hate" which may have originated in the World of Tanks community). My mental picture of the version on Nora's hoodie is akin to this one. And yes, I know the vehicle in question was never really called Hetzer, technically it was the Jagdpanzer 38(t), but Guderian mentioned that it was what the troops called them, and who am I to contradict Guderian?

Dr. Ido-Spengler - Daisuke Ido-Spengler, last seen way back in Scrapheap City Shuffle, is getting on in years and presumably has given up hunting rogue cyborgs with a rocket-assisted sledgehammer at this point, but he's still one of the galaxy's foremost cybersurgeons in 2410.
