He did spend a winter fishing for crab on the Bering Sea. That sucked. That was worse than being a waiter in a Klingon restaurant.

Too obscure? Think screwball captain and eager young space cadet. I'm fairly sure that you're at least passingly familiar with it. I seem to remember you mentioning that the race of one of the character's enemies exists in UF if not the enemy himself.

I don't think we have any major avian species who don't appear to be made of complete jerks (well, you know, that still fits), but I suppose the cadet might be a Tellarite...

(But no, there has never been a lack of shaving cream.)

That may be, but you're not lighting up any neurons with your hints. It's around 90° F here right now, so I have to admit I'm really not up for wordplay.

True. That didn't have anything to do with crab fishing, though. It might not even have happened during the Exile, I'm not sure.

Oh, and for the record, he did not, at any point during the season, fall in the tank.

Watching the crews of Deadliest Catch battle the ice of Opilio Season makes me think that it's worse than Ice Planet Halloran V.

By 2350s do you mean "Twenty-fourth and a half thentury"? 'Cause, the later post combined with that date, sounds like Duck Dodgers.

“They planned their campaigns just as you might make a splendid piece of harness. It looks very well; and answers very well; until it gets broken; and then you are done for. Now I made my campaigns of ropes. If anything went wrong, I tied a knot; and went on.”

Uh... okay. If so, not sure how or when I managed to give the impression I was a fan. I mean, I've heard of it, which puts it ahead of a lot of the stuff the kids are asking about seeing in UF these days, but I don't recall ever actually watching it, much less swiping stuff from it.

Seems like the joke fell a little flat. Also, my mind was apparently playing tricks on me. I had thought that Marvin the Martian's race had been mentioned as one of the races co-inhabiting Mars, but after rechecking the Hitchhiker's Guide entry it turns out that it's still a cartoon in UF that the Martians find mildly insulting.

Yeah, the Martians don't really "get" Marvin the Martian. Tharks think the cartoons are funny just because they're violent, but the other Martian races aren't so impressed (though the Sarmak just plain don't understand the humor, so it's not really like they're insulted). :)

Probably a mis-applied reference. Specifically to Mr. Garibaldi's second favorite thing in the universe.
