>Cally being awesome in dealing with the General Galaxy was awesome. One of the first things you learn as a Colonial technician is that you should always use the right tool for the job. Sometimes the right tool is a couple of burly lads with blasters. :)
>Daystrom, Daystrom, where have I heard... ohhh damn. Whoever came up
>with that particular idea, I salute you.
Why, thank you. It was one of those fun "dovetail" moments that are such a big part of the fun of working on UF in the first place (and originated in a Featured Document I did once about failed WDF weapons development projects, one of which was the X-9).
>The line about Highball flying a simulator into combat cracked
>me up. Hal Jordan is a good fit for the WDF.
I was hoping someone would spot that! :)
>How injured was Isamu from his ejection, just
>out of curiosity?
He wasn't; he just had to kick back for a bit and wait for Rescue to show up. Who knew that desert survival training would come in handy?
>The discussion in the brig wasn't bad, although if Guld knew about the
>multitronic system, I'd say he'd still be in a bit of trouble, to say
>nothing of the damage his reputation's taken.
Oh, he'll get a Stern Talking-To for sure. General Zukowsky passed on a court-martial, but you have to consider the very real possibility that that was at least in part because if she'd court-martialed him she couldn't have just torn him a new one off the record in the privacy of her office. Besides, like she told Cally, he's one of their best pilots and they can ill afford to dispense with his services. He may well get reassigned, though.
As for his reputation, well, if anything, having had a bout of poor judgment while pursuing technical and aeronautical excellence may well make pilots of a WDF nature admire him a bit. I mean, it takes balls to strap on a fighter you know has the Daystrom Psycho-Circuit in it, much less plug it into you head, and it takes confidence like an A-bomb to think you can control it. Yeah, being wrong about that qualifies as a pretty major pooch screw, but hey, live and learn, right? Either way it was badass.
The WDF pilot mentality is a peculiar thing. :)
