>>Very cool. However, the two parts of "Maiden in the Ice" have their >>names truncated, with a resultant filename collision on download. > >... how? One's filename starts with "02", the other "03". <goes back, looks at download directory> Oh, my error. I grabbed them with a bulk downloading tool that had an automatic filename prefix leftover in its settings from a previous download, and I thought the number from the original filename was an auto-increment it did as part of the prefix. (Which is something I occasionally use.) I should have looked closer before raising the objection. My apologies. -- Bob ------------------- My race is pacifist and does not believe in war. Any namespace collision would've happened on my end long before it ever got to someplace where anybody else could see it. If anyone's technically curious, the files as uploaded are straight out of my iTunes library (with the "keep library organized" setting turned on). I use the track number/"disc" number fields to curate multi-part titles like Symphony movements (so S1M2 Wounded Rose, for instance, is "disc 2" of the Symphony No. 1 "album"). It's not a perfect system, but it works fairly well for keeping the multi-parters straight. --G. -><- Benjamin D. >>ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?! :) > >Yes, er, no, er, maybe? Damn double negatives! :P Well, I ask because, even by slack-springtime standards, there's been this sort of eerie silence. Even what traffic there's been on the DA thread has been mostly about the parts that were already out or the format of the compilation itself. It's a bit unnerving. --G. -><- Benjamin D. >Well, I ask because, even by slack-springtime standards, there's been >this sort of eerie silence. In my case, that's because I usually burn the MP3s to CDs and play them in the car as my wife and I make our morning commute, and I haven't done that yet. In fact, Peggy's just made it clear this morning that she'd rather have me read it to her than you, Gryph. Sorry. I'll burn'em for myself sooner or later and get back to you. -- Bob ------------------- My race is pacifist and does not believe in war. We kill only out of personal spite. |

>--G. >ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?! :) No, I am entertained. I just have never seen the source material. In a very real way EPU *is* my source for the media aspects of nerd culture. --V. And the terrifying part is how well, just from the stories here & forums, I can talk to other geeks about stuff I've never seen.
