It's (very) vaguely inspired by a cocktail from Len Deighton's 1962 novel The IPCRESS File, the Manhattan Project (which is a Manhattan, rye+vermouth+bitters, with cherry brandy added). Disclaimer: I do not drink alcohol and know basically f-all about cocktails. I just wanted something that would be about the right color and have an energy drink in it. :) --G.
