For the record, there is a semi-direct Golden Compasses connection here, but it's only in that I saw the trailer for the movie while I was working on CSI:NA: Outward Trajectory, and the "armored bear" imagery inspired the creation of Ragnar Ragnarsson. He's not actually supposed to be a Golden Compasses character. If nothing else, he wears much more modern armor. :)
