I know that feeling. My family's house is about the same age. Every once in a while we renovate another room, luckily my dad is a licenced electrician. A lot of old 'knob and tube' wiring and other stuff that hasn't been used since WWII or earlier. *shudder* Not to mention the various home wiring jobs done by my grandfather and uncles several decades back (and they were NOT qualified electricians).
Sometimes I wonder how the house hasn't burned down yet. 8P
