"Amy and Rory"

Leave it to me to leave it to the last day of the Olympics for things to click.

I've been following things at work by way of BBC's live blog. One of their contributors for sledding events has been the 2010 Olympic women's skeleton gold medalist, representing Great Britain. Name? Amy Williams. So now we know just what "Mrs Williams" was up to during that semi-secret getaway trip to early 21st century Vancouver.

Historically speaking, there was another Amy Williams involved in sport. This Amy was a finalist in both doubles and mixed doubles tennis in the 1894 and 1895 US Championships (now US Open).

Haven't found a RL historical Rory Pond, Rory Williams or Amy Pond yet, but I'm sure they're all out there somewhere.

(ETA - thanks to whoever deleted the mis-fire message from the other thread)
