Depending on what point in his long career you intercept him at, there are at least three different Robert Heinleins. The earliest one's work has a distinctly authoritarian (and that's usually what people mean, for good or ill, when they say "fascist" - they presumably don't actually mean he was an early-20th-century Italian dictator) flavor; the middle one is less political; and the last one seems distinctly like he took too many of the green pills one morning.
