I left it deliberately ambiguous as to whether that's the actual Porthos, veteran of the NX-01 missions, or the latest in a series of Porthoses (a la the University of Georgia bulldog), and I don't plan to say for certain here, but what I will say is that a lot of crazy stuff happened to the NX-01 crew back in the day. That was real frontier spacefarin', man. None of your conveniently located starbases and subspace relay beacons back then. (G's actually kind of sad he missed that era. He arrived just at the very tippy-end of it, when Connies on five-year missions still had a fair bit of autonomy.)
