This was a wonderful story and a real pleasure to read. That being said, I really hate for my first post to these forums to be a nitpick, but...>> and movie-Pike.

How could this Admiral Pike be the original TV version? If I'm recalling correctly, the Split Infinitive universe follows the events of Star Trek. So, if that is the case, Captain Pike should be confined to a life support chair and been living on Talos IV (as per "The Menagerie") for nearly 20 years by the time of this story.
Or should I assume the events of and leading to "The Menagerie" didn't play out that way or didn't happen at all and I should stop looking too deeply into this whole thing?
