Hey, I found a pic of the Camaro's interior. Dig those red seats! You'd pay a lot extra for seats in any color other than black or beige nowadays.Also, I think 1989 was the last year before airbags, and as I recall, the first-generation GM airbag steering wheels were butt-ugly.
The lab stamp says October, but I could have sworn Dad bought the car for our summer trip that year. This pic certainly looks like we'd just picked it up--notice the remains of the dealer's paper floor mat, which would've been replaced with the proper carpeted mats soon after we got home from picking it up. (The rain on the hood matches the exterior photo, too, which I think was taken the day after we brought it home.) So either I'm wrong about when these pictures were taken relative to the sale, or wrong about when he bought it. Either way, 30 years later, what can one do?
