My repeat hearing was today, before the same Administrative Law Judge who turned me down the first time. Today's hearing went much less painfully than the first, since there wasn't a repeat of the extensive questioning about my situation and various limitations. In fact, the judge hardly asked me anything directly. Instead, here is a very abbreviated paraphrase/transcript of the proceedings.MY ATTORNEY
Your Honor, my client cannot work.
JUDGE
(addressing the Medical Expert)
Doctor, based on your review of the files, can the claimant work?
MEDICAL EXPERT
No.
JUDGE
(addressing the Vocational Expert)
Vocational Expert, based on your review of the files, can the claimant work?
VOCATIONAL EXPERT
No.
JUDGE
All right, well, I'll write up a favorable decision. Thanks for coming, everyone.
So... yeah. What with the wait for the decision to be written up, the further wait for a notice of award to be processed, and the FURTHER wait for SSA to start actually dispensing, it'll still be month and months before I start seeing any money, but after all that--four and a half years of faff, three rejections, two hearings, and one judicial review board later--things might be looking up.
