To be fair, further reflection has led me to connect the song a bit more with other characters and universes, particularly and amusingly Velvet Crowe from Tales of Berseria (who the singer on that cover provided the English voice for, which probably helps the connection subconsciously.) It's a solid song though, the upbeat, energetic tune contrasting with the rather unhappy lyrics.
