Which would be fair enough, I suppose, except that they, uh, did. Completely. In the climactic fight scene.

For all that you call him out for (and that he was usually presented as) one of the losers, Living Laser was downright frightening in his Armor Wars II appearance. He could be made sufficiently formidable for cinematic purposes; in fact, it would be an interesting exercise. Ditto for Ghost and/or Spymaster. The Chessmen from the story arc that introduced Obadiah Stane would've been interesting as a collective threat, perhaps through a telescoped version of their original escalating storyline, though they would obviously have needed a new boss.

Hell, for that matter, if they had to conflate a "son of Vanko" concept with some Iron Man villain other than the Crimson Dynamo, I would submit that the Melter would have been a better choice than Blacklash any day of the month. "And, so, on," as Carl Sagan once put it. :)
