>Or am I just not seeing things right, as may well be the case Yeah, it looks like the revolvers in Destiny use ammunition that's basically one big cartridge with several (in this instance, nine) loaded chambers in it and the ratchet/indexing mechanism built into the back. There's a top-break one that one of the other Hats uses for a while during that stream, which works in basically the same way.
I don't know if the game's designers gave it much thought—for instance, does the cylinder have a central axis pin that just doesn't go all the way to the back, and if not how is it retained?—but it looks cool, and it's a decent visual justification for how much faster and less fiddly than real revolvers they are to reload. Assuming sufficiently strong Future Materials that the cylinder only being retained at the very front isn't a problem, I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work mechanically, although it wouldn't be very efficient materials-wise.
