"An Opportunity for Handwaving..."

Peg and I were just rewatching the second Utena DVD last night, and something of a small continuity issue occurred to me. In "The Rose Which Blooms In the City of Light", it's mentioned offhandedly that the Cephirans don't have anything vaguely like Earthly organized religion. However, in episode 12 (I think; if not, then ep 11), young Touga and Saionji enter (in a flashback) a clearly Christian church. Assuming as always that Symphony continuity trumps source material continuity, exactly where did young Touga and Saionji find a young weeping Utena huddled in a coffin? Or did they?

Deism is "vaguely like Earthly organized religion"; many of the founders of the United States were deists (albeit Christian ones - don't ask me how that was supposed to work). What Cephiro doesn't have is Judeo-Christianity, per se. Many of them do believe in a monotheistic God, but the geography of the place is so different that the Bible would be nonsense to them. (Discussions as to whether the Bible is nonsense anyway do not belong on the EPU Forums and will not be tolerated. You have been warned.)

You may therefore assume that the decor of the church in the UF equivalent of the aforementioned scene was slightly different, or that the sect in question has some other reason for using the cross as a primary symbol.

The cross there represents their deity, Tim ;^>

Thank you, ReRob, for the image of some post-apocolyptic church where they worship the symbol for the MBTA.

Now, now, it's only the Gammas and Deltas that slavishly follow Our Ford.

Off to get some Soma. I've had a weird night.

Well, obviously, she had a little something going on the side, and so it was far too convenient for her to have Charlie stay stuck on the MTA...

I think on my vacation, I'm going to take some of that trip. Assuming it's still possible. (You know, they could reroute trains, change stations, stuff like that....)

(Hotel: Reserved. Amtrak: Reserved. Time off from work: Reserved. Vacation is GO.)

Please 'splain for the Boston-impaired. DART Light Rail is too young to have legends, as far as I know.
