Very nice. Although by the look on her face, I'd suspect she has a sappy romance novel hidden in there somewhere.

Some of the 1,001 forms of Dread Nyarlathotep are actually pretty funny if your Cthulhu Mythos skill rating is high enough to get the joke.

I had to do a Google in order to grep that one. This Article on Wikipedia.org was extremely helpful. I really need to get into some Lovecraft since you guys seem to be such huge fans... But yeah, I can see how that would be funny if you know enough about the subject matter at hand (which Raven does) and are of the right mindset (which she is).

See, here's the thing ... When some people think of New England regional literature, they think of Hawthorne, Melville, and Emily Dickinson. Others think of Poe, Lovecraft, and Stephen King.

Rank me among the Others then, because all I ever hear about is Poe, Lovecraft, and Stephen King. ;)

Poe's from Baltimore. Hardly "New England"--in fact, Maryland was considered a Southern state at least until the Civil War.

As for me, I'm not big on "classical literature." If somebody asked me to name authors from New England, my first answer would be Gryphon.

And then maybe Jessica Fletcher. :)

Poe was born in Boston -- though he lived in England, Virginia, and of course Baltimore. He published a book of poems under the byline "A Bostonian". I think that lets both North and South claim him ....

And then there's how I feel about the area... It gets flippin' cold enough for it to feel like frickin' New England to me.

That's it. When I retire from the Navy, I am moving to the Gulf Coast of Texas, preferably someplace south of Corpus Christi.

Is it not? Phil's been doing a lot of nifty things with lighting effects lately.

(Potentially entertaining aside: I did not initially intend to entitle the piece "Voici une sorcière" - I just wanted to make the post containing it say "here is a witch" and for some random reason decided to say it in French - but Phil ran with it, and what the hell, it works. :)

Oh, yes. The candlelight effects are gorgeous. :D

(French is like that really weird wrench/level/prybar that you find in the back of your toolbox and can't remember why you bought it. 99% of the time it's awkward or you just can't use it, but there's always a situation where it's PERFECT for the job.)
