Film majors
Journalism majors
Undeclared communication arts majors

(We also had an accounting major and a biomechanical engineer. Go figure.)

Without a doubt, when you wanted to know who was being the most obnoxious twit on the floor, it was a film major.

Last year, I flipped on the TV and Sci-Fi's Exposure came on... and it took me twenty minutes to explain to Neal why I was frothing at the mouth and swearing at the screen. One of my former floormates-- the bigoted, obnoxious, loudmouthed film-major asshole who kept asking me and my roommate to write his papers for him that entire year-- was being hailed by Roger Ebert as the Next Big Thing.

No. We weren't spared. It has hit TV last august. It's just not around here long enough that people say "Anime? You mean like DBZ?" Over her SMoon is in the nth+1 rerun and Pokemon has mearchendise _EVERYWHERE_, so when people around here hear the word anime most of them think SMoon/Pokemon. Whydoesn't anyone remember the old animes like Captain Future or Queen Millenia or Odysseus31 anymore? :(

Half? Is that all? Down here, I've seen entire video stores with nothing but that show in their anime section. When I asked the guy at the counter if he was going to get some decent anime in, he just looked at me like I was crazy and said 'we've got the entire Cell saga, what more do you want?'

That's not something to be proud of.

It was an AU/Fusion. I wiped up all the flying/energy blasts/transformation crap and made them normal soldiers. Oh, and I actually gave them real characters. I did blow one of their arms off, and some of them are going to die. Does that count?

Ugh. All the staring. That's all they do. They stare, for episodes at a time, and people are religious about it! If I wanted to see people stare at each other I'd eat dinner at the house of people who are getting a divorce.

Not just staring! They also make rather obnoxious grunting noises, as though they ate too much Taco Bell the night before and are suffering the consequences. They also quiver a lot, like a crack whore going through withdrawl. And on another note, what's with the Super Saiyan transformation? I mean, when they become more powerful they suddenly turn into Aryan Nation poster children! <Blond hair, blue eyes, bad attitudes... think about it>

My brother was like that. He'd give me some joking about it. (On the other hand, he's the one that regularly buys me anime DVDs for my birthday, so I can't complain too much about him.)

So one night, I went over to have dinner with him and his wife, and they said, "Bring a movie." So I brought... 'Princess Mononoke'.

At the end of the movie he said, "Well. Now I kinda understand why you like that stuff." And then he asked if I had anything kinda like a western.

He's working through Trigun now. I think I'm converting him.

As some people here might know Sen to Chihiro won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale toghether with Bloody Sunday. Now while hte reaction of most newspapers was quite positive there were still some that wrote stuff along the lines of "What the f*** was the jury thinking when they decided to give the Bear to a _CARTOON_!!!???"

Well they didn't say it this open, but it was clear that this was, what they meaned.

Some people are just idiots.
