   Today's new episode of Pretty Good (by Jon Bois, the maker of Breaking Madden) is about the 1904 Olympic marathon:

"It was the stupidest sporting event of all time."

It's pretty good.

I should have linked the SB Nation page for it rather than going straight to YouTube; there are links to sources there, including a long-ass podcast on the topic of the much broader shitshow that was the 1904 Olympics generally. (It opens with what seems like a bunch of rambling and random quipsmanship, presumably because it's a live show and they need to get the injokes out of the way. :)
