Apart from the part about the dance, that has a much longer and more honorable heritage. Heck, thanks to the unique and creative usage, these lyrics don't make a ton of sense in English or German. (I'm particularly fond of "Er war so exaltiert because er hatte Flair.")

The Art of Noise's preferred way of covering this involves a frilly shirt and periwig for Moose, black tie for Miki, and post-syncope stimulants for most of the girls (and, statistically, 10% of the guys) in the front row.

I would have thought that this number would be much higher, given the kind of people who gather around Utena.

In that case I'm sad to tell you it's a typo. That was meant to be the real-world date of posting, 2012.10.03.

Mind you, it's likely the Symphony cast will still exist in October of 2412, but this post wasn't meant to confirm or deny that.

'Sein' - pronounced 'Zine' - shows up serving double duty as a couple of different German pronouns... Second person plural and second person formal singular, I think. -en, in this case, is Some Damn Conjugation Or Other, this issue being why I gave up on learning German.

I admit that your way's funnier, though.

I'm pretty sure that's the third-person possessive. The girls loved his punk, if I'm reading it currectly.
