"OOTR Index Code Error"

The OOTR index page shows stories tagged as Movements 1-4 and Movement 6, but no Movement 5. I got curious - after checking the Page Source it appears that Taken By Storm is tagged as Movement 5, but the code has an error in it. Odd error - the text for the link appears to be broken but the link itself still works.

It's all ok on the chronological page.

That's weird, it's like either the server or your browser was trying to come up with a fix for the fact that the anchor tag didn't have a closing greater-than, and came surprisingly close to making it work. And the world inches ever closer to a true Do What I Meant interface. :)

Oh, I see what it did. The affected bit of markup said,

.../UF/FI/OOTR/TXT/15-taken.html"Fifth Movement: <i>Taken By Storm</i></a>

So it picked up the next >, which was at the end of the opening italics tag for the title, and just disregarded the bits inside the resulting anchor tag that were nonsense and outside the quotation marks. The closing-italics tag at the far end of the title was thus also meaningless, and ignored. End result: on the browser side, the link still worked, and the movement title was not in italics and not prefaced by "Fifth Movement:", but didn't have anything really glaringly mangled about it.

Better than the old days, I suppose, when the slightest deviation would produce half a page of incomprehensible guru meditation gubbins, but it does mean we've reached the stage where some manifestations of error are subtle enough to elude the inattentive page editor. :)
