Here are a couple of pictures of my mother's former horse, Chiricahua (cheer-a-COW-a, if you care) Scout, who found himself metafictionally resurrected in Coming to Terms as the horse provided for Anthy at Jezebel Resort. (Well, I say resurrected; I don't know for a fact that he's no longer with us, but it was many years ago, and horses don't live all that long.)

The real Scout was (at the time these photos were taken) about a 15-year-old Appaloosa gelding. He was a real sweetheart - very laid-back, pretty much thought he was a giant hound dog - and a good, solid, sure-footed trail horse, the combination of which makes him quite well-suited to be Anthy's mount.

Scout in winter.
Ah, the refreshing feeling of a
snowy lip.
