"graphics fiddling: RZC flag"
 
   For reasons that may be elaborated on later, I was just re-making a higher-res version of the Republic of Zeta Cygni flag, and I ended up with a couple of variations of the revised design that I wanted to get the class's input on.

Type 1, an updated version of the "classic" RZC flag with the Star of Avalon remaining in the upper left corner:

Type 2, the updated field with the Star of Avalon relocated into the middle of the cross, which is another historically traditional location for extra details on Nordic-cross flags:

What do you think, sirs, madams, and/or otherwise?

   Both look great. I like the aesthetics, and geometry, of the second flag more to be completely honest.

   I like both, and I think either would work just fine. I do notice a bit of a contrast conflict with the type 2, but nothing too significant, just noticeable. That is, the gold star isn't quite as distinct against the lighter blue as it is against the darker when it's in the corner. But it's a minor quibble at best.
