Or, What's Eating Gryph's Brain Now?Not the actual brain rot, for once! That, touch wood, seems to have been mostly under control since springtime, when we (i.e., the gang at my neurologist's office and I) made some medication changes and nailed down that business with my left arm regularly trying to escape. Still don't have most of the surface sensation in that hand, because that's a different cluster of burned-out neurons that is probably never coming back, and both the "only one bar of battery ever" and the periodic banks of brain fog are as persistent as ever, but at least the waves of pins-and-needles and occasional complete shoulder-down short-outs have stopped! You take what you can get with this condition, I tell you what.
The other stuff is going OK as well. I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing and putting up good numbers—my A1C reading, in particular, came down more than four points between April and August. CGM technology has been absolutely invaluable to this project. I'm not going to say it would have been impossible the old way, because obviously people did and still do it that way, but real-time monitoring makes it so much easier and safer.
So then, you may be thinking, if your health hasn't been kicking your ass all summer more than the usual amount, where's the stuff then? And that would be a fair, albeit pushy, question, the short answer to which is that there's been a lot of Adult Life Stuff going on that hasn't necessarily been all bad, but has all been distracting and/or represented a significant energy drain. Hopefully I'll be able to report on some of the more interesting parts soon; the rest is just the usual boring "we live in a society" bullshit. Short version: turns out it's hard to summon the Creative Flow when you're spending a lot of your time unsuccessfully looking for work you can actually do, and much of the rest unsuccessfully trying to convince the government that there's not much at all in the way of work you can actually do out there.
Oh yeah also a couple weeks ago I fell down a new rabbit hole, but I think I'll post about that on a more appropriate part of the board. And not tonight because it's gawdang 2 AM already.
