"Goat Simulator 3"
|
Finally free from the loathsome prison of Epic exclusivity, the sequel* to the greatest goat-based game of all time dropped on Steam the other day. As a huge fan of the original, I snapped it up forthwith. It's... well, it's more Goat Sim, is what it is. It's a little more polished, but only a little. I'm sure the good folks at Coffee Stain North realized that if they made it too slick, it wouldn't be Goat Sim any more. Pilgor** has moved to a new town and is prepared to cause more havoc. There are unlockable wardrobe items that do things! I'm currently amusing myself with the Death Ray-Bans, which give her a Cyclops visor complete with red laser beam of doom. Oh yeah, there's an intro cutscene, too. I can't say anything about that without spoiling it. The introductory Steam sale lasts for another couple days. And if you haven't played the original Goat Sim, that's two bucks, so, I mean, all you have to lose is disk space and some brain cells. This franchise is absolutely dumb as hell and I'm not going to pretend for one moment that it isn't, but for mindless mayhem in the cartooniest possible style (thematically, not graphically), it's hard to beat. --G. * there was no Goat Simulator 2, you see ** this has apparently always been the goat's name; don't know if that's a retcon -><- Benjamin D. Alas, it appears the sale has ended as of when I'm typing this, but I'm legit considering springing for it anyway based on your rec and the strength of the ad copy on the Steam page. "If your dreams contain more than one goat, that works for us! In Goat Simulator 3, you can invite up to three friends in local or online co-op to create carnage as a team, or compete in mini-games and then not be friends anymore." And under "key features": "- We have actual 'game designers' who have worked to create 'an okay amount of content'; including events, NPCs to mess with, physics, status effects, collectables, easter eggs, lies, betrayal, heartbreak" I mean I already liked Coffee Stain? So I shouldn't be surprised, I guess. --sofaspud --so, uh... what IS the deal with Goat Simulator 2?

>I mean I already liked Coffee Stain? So I shouldn't be surprised, I >guess. These are, after all, the same devs who offer a zero-day* DLC named the "Digital Downgrade", which includes, among other things, 3D printing source files for Pilgor and friends. >--so, uh... what IS the deal with Goat Simulator 2? They just thought it would be funny to skip it. Once again, Coffee Stain being Coffee Stain. :) --G. * at least on Steam -><- Benjamin D.
