"Doom Patrol"

Out of curiosity, and because I remember the comic fairly fondly from Back In the Day™, I've watched the first two episodes of the recent Doom Patrol TV series. I'm... pretty sure I don't like it? But it's kind of more complicated than that. For example, I have to acknowledge that it's witty, but the fourth-wall-aware narrator is a bit much.

The biggest problem I have with it is its wildly inconsistent tone. See, in the comics over the decades, there have been grimdark incarnations, and there have been wacky ones, and the TV show can't seem to decide which one it is. Or is willfully refusing to choose, which is even more dissonant. One second it's focusing closely on the cruel fate of Cliff Steele, and in the next he's the comic relief. Then it's Larry's turn, and, so, on. The juxtaposition of body horror and goofy hijinks is... hard to process.

Also, even at this early stage I'm reasonably sure they're going to go for the ["Niles Caulder was the real villain all along"] thing from my least favorite iteration of the comics, and I'm not on board with that.

So yeah. It's got its moments, but I don't know if I'll be sticking with it much longer.

The TV show incarnation of the Doom Patrol is heavily influenced by the Morrison era of the comics, so if you aren't down his his particular brand of metanarrativitic nonsense, you'll have a very, very rough go of it.

I think if you can get past zombie-were-butts you should be in for a pretty crazy ride.
