"announcements from cons."

LAST EDITED ON Aug-04-26 AT 11:51 AM (EDT)

Discotek announced this past weekend they had the entire original Patlabor series, as well as The Big O. It's all finally coming back.

There goes my money.

I hope their Patlabor sub is better than the Blurays that came along before, they're....HEAVILY altered from the actual script. ...looks like it was central Park Media's release?

Japanese: "(twenty japanese words that span 5 full seconds)"
English subs: "No kidding!"

I can't even imagine that they're just the english script because they don't BEGIN to match with the amount being said.

It's the opposite of the Ubese language Princess Leia speaks when disguised as Boushh in Return of the Jedi, where at one point she says something along the lines of "Ei. Ya-to," and the subtitles are a whole paragraph about how Jabba had better reconsider his position in the next five seconds, or people are going to be picking bits of him out of their soup over in Anchorhead.

One of my favorite gags in, I think Animaniacs, was when the Warners are abducted by aliens, and the one that's going to experiment on them goes into this long unbroken string of gibberish for like a full ten seconds, and then the subtitles are just "Yes."
