"It Recently Came to My Attention..."

... That Radiohead was originally slated to do the opener for James Bond: Spectre.

This being a bunch that loves good music and James Bond, I figured that folks here might find this oddly interesting.

The piece in question is, without any doubt, suitably Bond-esque - though it definitely would have been one of the darker and moodier ones to grace the series.

This is why the film's producers claimed to have given it the ax.

Radiohead was, needless to say, damn well cheesed off by this turn of events, which they believed was entirely politically motivated. What was worse was that they had put all work on their next album, A Moon Shaped Pool, on hold in order to work on Spectre.

Fortunately, though, they've been able to release the track on it's own single so it wasn't a total loss.

This video shows what the title sequence would have been like with the Radiohead single instead. Fair use and all that.

There are quite a few "alternate" Bond-themes out there. Back in 1965, the Bond movie was Thunderball. The theme was sung by (Sir) Tom Jones. However, there was a quite interesting other possibility.
