Only vaguely. I was running the USENet Anime FanFic FTP archine at the time, I think it might have been before RAAS got started...

A bunch of UF fans from another college wrote UF1 again, only with their group of friends and a flying UPS truck instead of my Daytona. (If we did it today I guess it'd be my PT Cruiser, somehow "PT Cruiser from Hell" just doesn't have the same ring...) At some point in the story they witness some of the events shown in UF, somewhat establishing that it is in the same universe...

Yes, there are many differences, but the basic plot is pretty much the same.

I contributed to the troubles inadvertently when, for want of better organization, I tossed it in the archive in the same place as UF. At the time I hadn't setup a clear structure, and UF was still embryonic, and I didn't think it was a big deal. I'd also done it with some other tangentially related, but non-canon, things.

Later when we started growing UF I reorganized things and clearly renamed it and kept it out of the UF subdir, indicating it was NOT part of the UF canon. I think it was one of the OR authors who didn't take well to it. But, frankly, I never paid it that much mind.

It is probably still in the RAAC archines, so if you want to scan it...

BTW, maybe we should raise the 'hot thread' threshhold... 25 or so?
